i meet derren brown at the glasgow hilton a few years back. he was a really cool and sum of the stuff he did that nite, all be it to a drunkard crowd of teenagers, were pretty sweet. he took the piss out of me with a 50p peice for a while, one sec it was on the ground, then it wasnt, then it was and so on and so on. i was amazed. oh, and very pissed
the pictures have nothing to do with it…its actually a variation of the classic and very old card trick called “out of this world” look it up if you feel like it and try to figure out how he changed it a little to be able to do it with pictures ;)
This is a variation of a trick called ‘out of this world’ which involves a person separating a deck of cards. Like xy27707 said the deck is stacked with pictures of one type on the top and pictures of another on the bottom. What I don’t like about the video is that the camera zooms out once Derren picks up the pictures, so we don’t see him performing the switch. It is also pretty interesting how people here can convince themselevs into thinking that they know what’s going on and be way off.
its derren brown, he doesnt need to use tricks like that, u obviously dont know much about him. the mind is so suggestable, and he uses that in almost all of his scenes. for example, he may have shown the good faces to the man and described them as friends and friends of friends, and the man subliminaly took a favour to those people because it was the only thing he was going off.
Notice that he only turns over about the first half of each pile individually and then turns over the remainder as a whole, otherwise the undertaker might see that there are photos in each pile that he didn’t place there. Also, we never get a good look at what happens after he separates the piles.
lmao, deanmat… i didn’t even catch him saying that… he freakin’ says the name of the trick and its hilarious to see the little smirk on his face when he says it too… :D
This isn’t a varient of oil and water.
He gives it away himself, exactly what it is:
His last words: Out of this world, which is claimed by some to be the best card trick in the world. It’s virtually the only card trick to make that claim.
right. As he said at the end, that’s “out of this world.” Man, this guy is clever. I didn’t even catch that the first time. “Out of this World” is a trick I do. I do this trick. I’ve done this trick 100 times. Yet, he gave it a new face and I didn’t catch it at first and did it well. That’s “out of this world.”
But yes, I agree with WRH who said that it wasn’t really fair the editing, how we can’t really see how he switches halves.
its not meant to be spiritual or magical, he’s a psycho-magician - he tricked this guy, but that doesnt make it any less amazing to watch, wish ppl would stop criticizing it as fake when thats the whole point.
No, you are the one that doesn’t know anything about him. If you had read any of his books, you’d know that he’s confessed that he does most of his tricks using regular, ordinary “magic”, just like any other “magician” does, he then creates an astonishing illusion and makes pop psychology fans like you to get all exited. I suggest you read his books (Easy Mentalism, Pure Effect, etc.)
the way its done is rly simple all the alive photos have happy expressions and are in a good atmosphere and all the dead have glasses on or in poor atmosphere such as the umbrella turned inside out and the girl covering her face rly simple
