He has never proven the ability to hyponitize anyone like that on the street in a few seconds where they hand over their wallets. That is nonsense, made up for the TV program. His career is doing exactly that.
right. And I’m saying that with the amount of people analyzing him (as well as the fact that hypnosis is 100% real), it’s far more likely (and career friendly) for him to simply use his easy techniques to induce people. Hypnosis is amazingly easy. It isn’t worth his whole career to make a bunch of phony shit. How boring for him. If he wanted to trick people for money he’d become a tele-evangelist.
It is much more likely he is not hypnotizing anybody when it is so much more believable that he just has actors. That is what criss angel does. That is how you make TV programs. Everything is scripted. Nothing is left to chance. Occam’s razor stipulates that the simpliest explanation is usually true.
Hypnosis is real. Ever been hypnotized? I have. As the guy in the video explained, he accidentally did this to a woman whil buying stuff. No one is saying this is magic or supernatural. Occams Razor barely applies to this. People are highly skeptical of Brown, yet he has never been found to be a con-artist (aka, using techniques anyone can do with actors or ear plugs). Why is this so unbelievable to you?
You’ve watched him. So what does that prove? I also watched him in this video, and I call BS. My explanation, while having no more evidence than yours, however, is more logical and much more plausible. Occam’s razor.
No, he’s actually totally legitimate in hypnosis. I’ve watched this guy do all kinds of amazing things to debunk religious people and healers, etc. He uses their techinques to show there is nothing supernatural about confusing people and suggesting whatever you wish on them.
Excellent job on the analysis, MystryBox! I’m trying to get into embedded commands and I wanted to know what you think about them. How effective are they and how hard are they to implement in every day conversation?
Why grasp at esoteric, and unfounded, explanations for this video, when it is just as likely, if not more, likely that this was simply an act for the cameras? That explanation works best. Occam’s razor.
Please don’t leave those negative connotations at the beginning, it makes the person think that there is a 1/100 chance that what you are saying is right, and it makes them not want to watch video at all.
Thanks!
A pattern break is interrupting an unconscious pattern like a handshake (which results in confusion). He also confuses the guy by asking directions to different places each time he asks and probably several other things. Once confused the man is more suggestible. In the end though he only acts on Derren’s suggestions because Derren has built a bit of trust and is leading him. People won’t give their stuff up to someone they have no trust built for even if they are confused.
hi there i’ve seen some bs trance but your visual seems reasonable & agreeable. you like people with good sense. tell me, what do you mean when you say pattern break or w/e do you mean the fake hakeshake than to water bottle will make the unconsuion guy into a confused state. the guy is already in a unconsuion confuseing state to being with just from the fake hankshake it self. are you sure you dont mean it will make him into a deeper unconsious ????????????????
Everyone can be suggestible at times but it’s related to state/mood. So although anyone can be susceptible, at any particular time most people wouldn’t be. That’s why hypnotists spent time to recognize state (and have tests to help with that). Also intelligence isn’t as big a factor as you might think.
Great.
How do you know it was for real? It’s an illusion. An act. That is what this industry is all about – fooling you.
I’ve seen others do the same thing for real. Whatever, man. Stop watching him.

He doesn’t do cons? That is what he is purporting to do here. Except instead of conning the shopkeeper, he cons the viewers. A con is a con.
Derren Brown doesn’t do cons. He’s a well-known psychologist in the UK.

i think what brings him out of the trance state is when he points and goes through the initial motions again
have u do it live on somebody? hahaha that would be funny
Touche my friend. In that case, ten out of ten!
That’s in the text description on the video.
Think he misses the fact that giving the bottle also initiates the exchanging of things, otherwise, spot on.
