wharghoul he takes the money out of one envelope and puts in a new denomination each time. so if he only showed them the one she picked and there was a 5 in each to start with if they picked the wrong one and he took out a 5 the second or third time they would see it on the table. There is money in all the envelopes. He just only shows them the one they didn’t pick.
It’s a very lazy and sloppy way to do this trick, but it does work if you lack skill like Derren.
The correct way to do this trick is to show them the contents (and not just in flash glimpses, actually open the envelope for them to verify) of the envelope they picked and the one that actually contains the money.
I think it’s an explaination. You never see the bills in the envelopes as they are opened. However “influencing” them as brown claims he does worked most times with me.
It looks like he cheats at 2:46. It looks like he’s not sure so looks to the cameraman for comfirmation. (I’m not saying that is what he’s doing, just what it looks like.)
like picking which pawn is in which hand to get to be white in chess. my friend used to always trick me with that, and he always guessed the correct hand against me, the bastard!

he is in fact directing her all the way.
shes not a TOTALY random person, shes a random EASILY INFLUENSED person. this trick is almost guaranteed work on about 1/3 or less of us, if my sources are correct.
It’s only a different bill in one of the envelopes, but it doesn’t matter, because the way Derren does the trick it’s impossible for the woman to ever see it anyway.
He could do it with no money and it’d still work fine, because he never allows the woman to see the contents of the envelope. He only gives her his word and maybe a glimpse.
yeah, after seeing him do this with so many people, i got it right every time. but as she said, he can probably predict what you’re going to choose.. and he’ll influence you to pick the other

This trick is ludicrously simple.
