I normally listen to a song that really inspires me and that i love. Right now the song that does that for me is beauty in the breakdown by The Scene Aesthetic, since listening to this song (started listening to it yesterday) i've written two songs. For you it might be Taylor Swift. Just write down what you're feeling and turn it into a poem and gradually turn it into a song. That's how i wrote my first song and it worked out really well. If you write from the heart then it shouldn't be cheesy.
